Purification

Purification of Lubricants

With the results obtained from the fluid analysis and if there is water or solids contamination, the action of which causes the acceleration of the degradation process, the necessary corrective measures to restore the initial characteristics are to be taken; thus, maximizing the useful life of lubricant. Uthomi Petroleum counts on technology and equipment capable of providing this service in your plant.

Purification is to be performed with a centrifugal separation device + Filters; this process enables an additional increase of the oil life, thus resulting in the desired costs reduction.

Programs

Configuration of the Plant Lubrication Program

From the overall inspection of the lubrication points and the operational conditions, including temperature measurement and contamination level, a basic lubrication program will be defined, in direct accordance with the recommendations of each equipment manufacturer.

This program will include:

• Type of lubricant
• Quantity of lubricant
• Period of re-lubrication
• Date for taking samples to be analyzed
• Labeling of equipment using the appropriate symbols

Laboratory

Analysis Laboratory

The scope of oil exam is to determine:

• The level of degradation of lubricant.
• The level of contamination, morphology and type.
• The status of equipment.

Determinations to be carried out:

• Viscosity
• TAN
• Water
• Cleanliness code ISO 4406
• Corrosion on Cu
• Analysis of contaminants
• Interpretation and diagnosis of wear

Optional:

• Metals by spectrophotometry
• Level of oxidation by FTIR

Assessment

Additional Services

The mission of Uthomi Petroleum’s Engineering Department is to suggest and provide the most suitable cutting edge technology for each industrial application. Therefore, our commitment lies in supplying counseling and support in relation with top level objectives for the cost reduction that we share.

Consequently, for each application we determine the procedures to define the equipment, assessing possibilities, feasible goals, final proposal and application management.

Subsequent implementations are followed by relevant verification and assessment to record improvements: the evolution and interpretation of parameters, such as temperatures, pressures, power consumption, and physical-chemical analysis to be executed in our laboratory of lubricants.

These procedures are included in the product supply.

Permanent Mehchanical Assessment

The following main aspects for cost reduction are included in this service:

• Determination and diagnosis of wear evolution. Analysis of particles.
• Evaluation of the lubrication status.
• Setting-up of lubrication. Reduction of consumption.

Engineering

Engineering in the Control of Contamination

On account of the systemic concept of assessing mechanisms, Uthomi Petroleum’s Engineering Department, will suggest alternative mechanisms or tasks aiming at minimizing the introduction of contaminants into the equipment.
